May we bring the same gift to ourselves and all who appear in our life. I am grateful for this community that comes to these reflections with such heartfelt appreciation. It is here that the doors of our heart remain open while the tender winds of love blow through. When we practice and illuminate gratitude in our lives, we share our appreciation daily. Over the years of working with those bereaved, there is often the voice of "If only I had told her.". When we delay these expressions, we are left with a deep regret. An offering of endearment served with love. These are the moments when we touch another's heart with the warmth of ours. One of the great blessings of gratitude is witnessed when we express it to those around us. Awakening from the complacency that has put us in the trance of taking our life for granted. We begin to notice the smallest of threads that are woven into the tapestry that is our life. There is beauty in our souls when we grow gratitude. The gift of our breath becomes apparent when we remind ourselves that it is not permanent. We can practice this in the daily whispers of our heart to remember. The lightness of appreciation inspires an awareness of the gifts we have. We are each sitting at the table of a feast waiting for the right dish to be served. We are chased by the relentless belief that if only this or that happens, then we will be happy. This leaves us with a yearning in our soul. We spend so much time accentuating what is missing in our life. We must intentionally turn our attention to cultivating this very powerful orientation. Whether you are living in a country that celebrates this or not on Thanksgiving, we can honor its' importance in our lives. Today is a day for us to reflect on the light that is gratitude.
